Pepsi vs. Coke commercial
This advertisement argues that Pepsi is a more superior drink compared to Coca Cola. It is set in a run - down neighborhood and follows a small boy trying to buy a drink from a vending machine. At first he can be seen buying a can of Coca Cola, causing the audience to assume that this video is a commercial that supports the purchase of Coca Cola. The boy buys another can of Coca Cola and sets it down onto the ground next to the first can. He steps onto the cans, using them as a platform to reach the button on the vending machine that dispenses Pepsi. He then walks away with his Pepsi, leaving the cans of Coca Cola where they are on the ground. Overall the use of the young child and upbeat music addresses pathos, the appeal to emotion. There is a little ethos, which is appeal to credibility, as the advertisement makes a discreet attack against a competitor. In regards to logos, or the appeal to logic, the advertisement is arguing that Pepsi is so much better than Coca Cola that people would be willing to spend extra money to get it.
